Day 3, Afternoon/Evening Update

I just spoke to Dad, for the first time in several hours. Mom's fever is very high - at last check 102.7. Her pulse is also racing at 140 bpm. She's already on antibiotics, so her doctors said that if she doesn't begin to respond to those soon they will begin another course. Her O2 sats had dropped, so they put her back on oxygen and it has come back up to 90%.

Please keep praying - for wisdom for her doctors to discover the source of this infection, for Mom's body as she fights the infection, for the medications to work quickly, and for my Dad's continued energy, strength, and peace as he's there with her this evening.

(Further update by Jud from bedside)... During his afternoon rounds, the resident said that they are still waitiing on culture results to determine exactly what is causing her infection. In his opinion, she is looking much better this afternoon than she was this morning. The NG tube has nearly eliminated the nausea she ws experiencing earlier.
This afternoon, her blood sugar was over 200 due to her receiving all nutrition through IV. She was given a shot of insulin to bring it back down. She was also started on a second antibiotic around 6PM.

  1. More prayers- all of you continue to be in our prayers. May the doctors have the wisdom and be guided by the hand of the Lord.

  2. Jud & Michelle, My computer has been down and it just got up and running a little while ago, so I have not been able to read this week's blogs until now. I have been hearing through Jeff and Pam and others from FBC. None of this has halted our prayers for Cheryl and we will keep them going. I have planned all week for Ervin and I to go to the hospital this afternoon and we will still try to visit her, however, if she is too ill to receive a visit, we will certainly understand. Just know our love, thoughts and prayers are with all of you and especially Cheryl.
